Meet Kala Grace!
With over a decade of teaching experience since the age of 15, Kala’s expertise and profound love for surfing are unparalleled.
Hailing from a lineage of renowned professional surfers, Kala’s family history in the sport is nothing short of legendary. His uncle, Derek Ho, made history as the first-ever Hawaiian world champion in 1993, while his uncle Michael Ho has triumphed in numerous prestigious events on the North Shore, including the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing and Pipeline Masters. Inspired by his accomplished relatives, Kala has carved his own path in the surfing world, becoming a respected name in the industry.
Surfing is not just a sport, it’s our way of life. Being out there on the waves, feeling the power of the ocean beneath you, it’s something very special. My mission is to pass on this passion and inspire others to embrace the joy of surfing. Seeing the smile on everyone’s face after they ride there first wave ever is what keeps us going at North Shore Oahu Surf School.

We called up Kala on short notice and he got us taken care of. He got my 7yr old son and I out with Kane. You can tell these guys care about the experience and sharing the love of the ocean. Kane was calm and patient with my son and helped bring out the stoke for him. This was my son's first time surfing and he caught the first wave he went for. He caught a bunch during the session and nothing can be better than seeing that. He also got ragdolled a few times and Kane was always there to calm and assure him and he guided him back out into the line up. For me, ive surfed a little bit but really benefited from Kane's knowledge of where to be and learning to read the different waves coming in. Overall i couldnt have asked for a better experience. I had a fantastic surf course today. Kane was just a genius in how to teach the basics of surfing. His personality is just perfect for those who do not have that much experience in surfing. Thanks Kane for a great day. He must be one of the best teachers on the island! Will be back from Hungary, to do more!

You guys are amazing! Truly!! My son went out with one of your surf guides in March (sorry my review is a little late) and he had the best time ever!! I was nervous about letting my 18 year old son go out surfing on the North Shore. Even though he's an intermediate surfer, I wanted someone to go with him to show him the lay of the land. Kane did more than that, he showed my son all the in's and outs of the surf area. Surfed with him for hours. Gave him tips on how to get the most of the waves. He was absolutely a gem!!! My son was so pumped!!! He said it was one of the best holidays he's ever been on because of you guys!! I can't thank you enough!!!! Sorry I've been meaning to write this review forever, because you guys deserve it!!!!

We had an amazing experience with North Shore Oahu Surf School last week! Our family of six (ranging from kids to adults) took a group lesson, and it was hands-down one of the highlights of our trip.
The instructors were incredibly patient, encouraging, and clearly passionate about what they do. They made sure everyone felt safe and confident, especially the since we were all first-timers. By the end of the session, we were all catching waves—and having a blast!
The whole process was smooth. The beach location was perfect, with beautiful surroundings and great beginner-friendly waves.
Highly recommend North Shore Oahu Surf School to anyone visiting the area—whether you're a total beginner or just looking to improve your skills. Huge thanks to the team for such a fun and memorable day!

Before our trip, Kala answered all our questions, and helped us feel comfortable sending our daughter out for a lesson. Her instructor, James, is also excellent, and the beach they teach at is lovely and uncrowded. Highly recommend!

The surf instructor, Kané, was super nice and helpful. The company had great communication. It was an overall great experience that I would recommend to everyone!
